The FIFA World Cup 2026 brought a natural opportunity for Praia Bingo to create something that connected the biggest sporting event in the world with its player base, a predominantly Brazilian audience with deep ties to football culture.
The result was the World Cup Collection: a sticker album feature synchronized with three in-game seasons across 45 days, in which players collect mascot stickers representing the nations competing in the tournament. It marks the first time a collection system has been implemented in Praia Bingo, making it both a celebratory feature and a significant technical and design milestone for the product.

The mechanic
Players can earn 48 stickers through season-related gameplay mechanics. 45 are standard stickers, and 3 are rare chrome variants representing Brazil, Argentina, and France. Completing the album unlocks rewards and, importantly, makes progress visible to other players, activating the completionist drive that keeps collectors engaged.
Beyond the celebratory angle, the feature had two concrete business goals: increase DAU engagement within seasons, and reactivate lapsed buyers who hadn’t purchased from the in-game store in some time. Early data from the first week confirmed the feature was moving in the right direction on both fronts.

My role
My contribution was focused on the album interface and the sticker interaction experience. Specifically:
- Designing the album UI with clear progress communication: players needed to understand at a glance how many stickers they had, which ones were missing, and what they needed to do to earn the next ones.
- Ensuring component consistency across all sticker states: locked, unlocked, common, and rare chrome variants. With 48 unique items and multiple visual states, pop-ups, alerts and interface maintaining a coherent system was essential.
- Crafting the sticker placement interaction: the moment of peeling and placing a sticker in the album. The goal was to make that action feel satisfying and rewarding, not just functional.
- Structuring feature scalability: strategically, this new feature was not planned only for the world cup but to be used as collections for any future season. For this purpose, all components were developed with future customizations in mind, as were all user flows, including the visualization of collections from the moment they are closed, whether completed or not.
Important note
Collection systems create a different kind of engagement than traditional progression features. When players can show their completed album to others, the social layer adds pressure (in a good way) that drives return visits and in-game purchases. This feature opens the door for Praia Bingo to use collection mechanics beyond the World Cup context, making it a long-term design investment as much as a seasonal campaign.
